This was a huge debate since a majority of the citizen was affected. The issue cut across different races religion and the government at large. The Christians, Muslims and other religious groups were against abortion for according to their teachings and doctrines, it is immoral and goes against Gods wish, Ogland Verona, 2011. On the other hand research had it that the number of illegal abortion done on the back street was alarming and many young women were losing their lives due to improper procedures, Donohue Levitt, 2001. So when the bill to legalize abortion was tabled in congress, it was weighty because the opinions of both parties were weighty and was to be respected. Being a complex situation and evidently arose mental conflict, making a decision based on empirical reasoning was not easy in legalizing abortion. Being a Christian I was torn between choosing what was right before God in protecting the unborn child and saving the lives of the young women which findings show that were rising each and every day.
